The National Affordable Housing Corporation (NAHC) is a non-profit organization based in Saskatoon, Sask.
We’re part of a number of network of non-profits across Canada that helps low-to-moderate income individuals, couples and families find affordable housing answers. Working with the private sector, government and other nonprofits, we’ve helped build 900+ new affordable homes in Saskatoon alone and partnered on nearly 20 multi-family affordable housing projects. Many of these units are EnergyStar® certified and rated energy efficient, giving residents ongoing affordability through lower utility costs. Although the NAHC began by offering services in Saskatoon, we’re expanding our services to municipalities, towns, First Nations communities, and housing providers across the prairie provinces.

Founded in 2011, we’ve taught financial literacy, budgeting, credit building and homeowner education to more than 400 families. Our workshops have helped people pay down debts, save money, and build or fix their credit so they could get a mortgage and become first-time homeowners.
In 2012, we started to offer monthly financial assistance to help individuals and families afford rent in Saskatchewan’s rising rental market. Through builder partners and government funding, were able to deliver down payment assistance programs and tax sponsorship to help families become 1st-time homeowners of government-approved affordable new homes.
Since 2012, we’ve delivered a Monthly Rental Support Program in partnership with the Government of Saskatchewan. The program has been used to lower rents for households renting with our partnered rental developments so tenants can afford a quality, safe and appropriate rental for their families.
In 2018, we began advising other organizations on how to set-up and manage housing portfolios that include subsidized rentals, affordable rentals and financial assistance.
